volunteer requirements
passion.
most importantly, you should be passionate about working with and empowering young people. you know the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and you're dedicated to investing in their civic development.
training.
our volunteers must complete our introductory training course and the elections department's volunteer deputy registrar training prior to entering classrooms. you should be prepared to complete several hours of training before interacting with students.
inclusivity.
we are committed to engaging students of all backgrounds in a respectful and affirming manner. this means our volunteers must treat students of all races, ethnicities, religions, genders, orientations, abilities, and ideologies with equally high regard.
availability.
because we register students in classrooms, volunteers should have flexibility to volunteer during regular school hours. if you're unavailable during school hours, contact info@studentvoterinitiative.org for more ways to get involved.
eligibility.
in order to volunteer, you must be able to pass a criminal background check and any other additional screening procedures required by individual schools or districts.
